work-study exchange opportunity

If you are interested in a work-study opportunity at the Jacksonville School for the Arts in Floyd, Va, now would be a good time to initiate contact. When the school opens on June 3, 2005, three fully functional studios for pottery, glass, and blacksmithing will begin operation. Studio assistants are needed in these areas, but applicants with exceptional skills in other areas will also be considered. The school's work-study exchange program is currently under development, but there is a possibility that there will be some positions in the areas of technical support, graphic design, web development, etc.
The school website is up (a preliminary version, anyway...) at www.jacksonvillecenter.org/school
It contains class descriptions, instructor bios, etc.

film fest on campus

Its called Lost Film festival and it's on campus. (Chemp?)

film fest tonight

Let's see here. Busy busy busy. well the first thing is that tonight there is a film fest at the lyric (or was it on campus?)...anyway its featuring work short films by locals (incl. Joe Kelley)...

Also, a status report on the Jacksonville School for the Arts I am writing: The site should be up by the beginning of April, but in the meantime there is an article about the school on Traces, including class descriptions, instructor bios, and some images from the new campus.

There are classes this spring at the Jacksonville Center, too, in all sorts of media. In May I will be teaching a kid's class called Bringing Your Stories to Life.

Bye!

artifact tracker

New work posted today...Will, Artifact, Tracker, OK, Baby Phoenix, and a little barn and carriage. I will be putting Tracker up in my studio at the Jacksonville Center today. Construction of the studio complex at the Jacksonville Center is well underway, and the Jacksonville School for the Arts will indeed be opening its doors on June 3 of this year. Holy cats this is exciting. I myself am going to check out some blacksmithing classes. Anyway be sure to get your name on the mailing list soon if you are interested in getting a catalogue. There will be an open house at the Jacksonville Center on Earth Day weekend (April 22-23), and Chris Shackleford will be hosting a tour that weekend of the school's new ceramics, blacksmithing, and glass-working facilities. My own studio at the Center (room 124) is coming along nicely...the exposed rock wall is going to be a really fun feature, I think.

Traces stone sculpture updates

Folks who read the Traces stone sculpture journal may have noticed that I have started updating the site recently. Actually, I am not updating it, but rebuilding it. After my computer was hit with a virus a few years ago, the original Traces site was lost along with my entire contact database. Anyway, I'd love to hear back from people wanting to re-connect with Traces...please feel free to re-submit any link suggestions, etc. you may have sent to Traces in the past. Please be sure to read my contact guidelines first as I have become extremely cautious about opening emails.
