mountain justice website

I just published cards 261 through 265 ("iki") and 266 through 270 (barns). A little info "iki" appears on the Sito.org discussion board. Also, the Mountain Justice group at Virginia Tech just launched a website at http://www.mountainjustice.org.vt.edu for folks in the New River Valley & surrounding areas who are interested in issues related to mountaintop removal coal mining. Anyone interested in social sculpture, environmental art, ecology, sustainable living etc. should check out the Green Museum website...it has lots of good content, including a wiki and a pretty impressive list of opportunities. Happy snow day!

sumi ink workshop

A very warm thank you to everyone who participated in today's sumi ink drawing workshop...it was really fun & inspiring for me. Zeb, thanks again for the cool pictures. Thanks to Maria, too, for helping out yesterday with some pictures for the website I will be making for the new studio school at the Jacksonville Center. Until the school's website is up, watch this page for announcements about work-study opportunities, scholarships, etc. The Carving Studio just sent me a workshop listing for the 2005 sessions...some neat things listed there.

Big things going on these days at the Jacksonville Center...classes in the residential school (blacksmithing, jewelry & pottery) are starting June 1. My friend Chris (program director in the residential school) says that there will be work-study & other opportunities for students & emerging artists...I will post more about these opportunities as the info becomes available.

hayloft

Thanks so much to all the folks who have been visiting the Hayloft exhibit...I know many of you have done a lot of traveling to catch the show, and we do appreciate it. At the end of this month I'll be leading a sumi ink drawing workshop in Floyd...spaces are still available. The last one was a lot of fun. Please call the Jacksonville Center for info. I am currently working on a new series of sumi ink paintings on stone...these will be on display sometime in early spring in my new gallery space in room 124.
